You've all heard about the new LED flashlights. I got myself one of the
Sapphire units a few months ago, the kind that is made to hang from your
keychain. Addendum:
Long term Update: It's been over a year with my Sapphire and it's been
through its paces. Yes, it still works. No, it's not pretty! Here are two
problems with the unit. First, the switch is susceptible to water. Now to be
fair, I beat the devil out of mine and it was actually sitting in a small
puddle on a rainy day. But water got inside the unit and prevented the
contacts from closing. I had to disassemble the unit to clean it. Secondly,
the snap-link is plastic and snapped-off the retaining nub, so now, the
movable arm on the link has no stop and can open too far, allowing the
Sapphire to fall off my key ring. Now, under ordinary circumstances the
Sapphire would not take this abuse, but mine did. Sorry guys: You do not
earn The Lionhearted Tried & True Seal of Approval.
